About fear

About fear

I’ve learned a lot about fear, mostly my fears, in the past few weeks.

Fear is that wall blocking us to do something. Moreover, fear prevents you from living your life to the fullest.

What is really behind your fear? What’s actually the reason it appeared? Ask yourself, what I’m actually afraid of? Write it down. We usually tend to exaggerate the worst outcome possible and fear it would come true, but that’s actually very unlikely to happen.

Instead, learn from your fear, because at the end of the day, what it wants is to protect you. Once you learn what is asking for, you can find a place in between in which the fear will settle, or at least decrease, and you will be comfortable enough to take the risk. When you write it down and rationalize it, it becomes easier to handle.

“On the other side of your maximum fear, are all of the best things in life.”
Will Smith

If you want to learn more about how to deal with fear with exercises, you can check out this Ted talk from Tim Ferriss, where he shares how we can make plans despite our fears, and even encourages us to take actions on our fears. I highly suggest you to watch it.

“Each time there is something we are really angry about or scared of, there is a powerful lesson to be learned. It is usually something we have withdrawn from in the past that we are now getting the opportunity to embrace.”
Gay Hendrix, Learning To Love Yourself
